“Monuments of War – Battle of Narvik 1940” are a number of monuments located between Bardufoss and Narvik in Northern Norway. They commemorate the battles that were fought in the region in 1940.

This stretch of road has also been named after the Norwegian General Fleischer who, as the commander of the 6th Division, was the first to defeat troops from Nazi-Germany during World War II.

These monuments recognizes and honours Norwegian and foreign veterans and troops who fought in the Battle of Narvik, and will be a contribution to reconciliation between nations. Six monuments are placed at the following sites: Skjomnes, Bjørnfjell, Herjangen, Øse, Lapphaugen and Bardufoss. Museums in the area will make additional exhibitions. The opening ceremony took place at Lapphaugen on June 15th by His Majesty King Harald of Norway.
